You’re usually more than welcome to visit a new practice before making the decision to join, giving you a chance to meet with the dental team and learn more about the way they work.

Check the location is convenient for you, and if you work, ask whether they have early, lunchtime or late appointments

Find out about their dental emergency procedures too, and the parking arrangements at the practice if you’re planning to travel there by car.

Trust, trust, trust

Before you register with a new dentist in Bromley, go to their clinic and meet the staff if possible. See how helpful they are and how welcomed they make you feel. There is no point in having a dentist that you do not trust with your oral hygiene and best interest.

Find out what services they offer

As practices may differ in the range of services offered, check out that they are able to provide the type of care that you think you may require. For example, if you are interested in cosmetic dentistry, enquire as to the range of such procedures available.

Look at the website and review any adverts or promotional material

A dentist’s website is a good way of gauging the services they offer, but also gives you a chance to look for any promotions or adverts that may be useful to you, especially as a new patient. An up-to-date website which contains the latest offers and most recent news is a good sign that the dentist is keen to look after their patients and attract new ones.

Make sure you feel comfortable

Whichever dentist you choose should allow you to talk openly about your dental needs and any fears you may have. After all, a good dentist is not just about the treatments they offer but also the support, care, and advice they give you throughout your being a patient with them. You need to feel at ease with your dentist, but and everyone else in the team; the nurses and the receptionists. At All Smiles Dental in Bromley we have done everything we can to make you feel welcome and at ease.

White Fillings

White Fillings

Previously, if you needed a filling, the only option was to use metal amalgam. Whilst this is very strong and durable, it’s also silvery-grey in colour, making it rather obvious in your mouth. This is a particular problem if you need a filling in one of your front teeth.

White fillingsWhite fillings have been around for many years, but for a long time were considered less strong than their metal amalgam counterparts, and not suitable for back teeth where the strongest forces are exerted when chewing. However, advancements in materials and techniques mean that white fillings are now considered almost as strong as metal ones, and suitable for use anywhere in your mouth.

While they are known as “white” fillings, in fact it is more accurate to describe them as “tooth-coloured” fillings, because the shade of filling material chosen will be carefully matched to the natural colour of your teeth by your dentist. This means they are highly discreet, and won’t be noticed when you smile.

White fillings are made of a compound resin material, which is very strong and with proper care will be able to withstand the natural forces of biting and chewing for many years.

If we find that you need a filling at your dental check-up, your dentist will carefully remove all areas of decay before placing a white filling. Once in place the filling material sets quickly.

If you have old metal amalgam fillings, it is also possible to remove and replace these with more aesthetically pleasing white fillings. While we wouldn’t recommend treatment unless it was necessary, if you have metal fillings that are worn, discoloured or are causing you social embarrassment, our dental team can replace them with white fillings. Please speak to your dentist if you believe your old fillings need to be replaced.
